your story:
Describe your communication problem in
your own language.
“I
feel like I can’t say no without feeling guilty.” “I
don’t know how to ask for a raise from my boss.” “I
am uncomfortable asking my partner to help me with child care.”
List the contributing factors to your communication problem.
Fear of rejection,
fear of being fired from my job, embarrassment, shame, don’t
know how to talk about my feelings without raising my voice, etc.
Detail the consequences of your communication problem.
“By not saying
no, I have not taken a vacation with my family in the last two years.” “Since
I can not ask for a raise from my boss, I worry constantly about my
financial situation.”
Express how your communication
problem affects you.
